The Core Elements of Project MOST:

  • studentsWorking Together as a Community
We are a school based after school program that works in partnership with the local school district, local government, private philantrophy and parents. We address the critical needs of our communities for access to safe, affordable, and quality out of school time learning resources. This is a critical resource for working parents.
  • Regular Attendance
We operate three hours fropm 3PM to 6PM, every school day. It is expected that for children to get the maximum benefit, they attend every day. We are not designed to be a drop in center.
  • Opportunity for All
The program is open to all students within the site-based school. Project MOST typically serves about 30% of the school population. Children participate within their own grade level. While many children have working parents, it is not a criteria to participation.
  • Academic and Social Support
We ascribe to providing children with a muti-activity program that combines academic support, enrichment activities that include visual and performing arts, physical exercise, and a value based atmosphere.
  • studentsAlignment with the School Day
A professional teacher coordinates the program and designs activities to compliment but not duplicate the learning needs of our children.
  • A Safe Place for Children After School
Our program is staffed by a full time, year round coordinator who works from a school based office and is in daily communication with the school principal and teachers. We also employ our local high school seniors and college students who energize the activities and are positive role models to the children.
  • Registered Program
We are an authorized program by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and follow defined guidelines as to staff ratio, program design and safety/environmental issues.
  • Parent Support
Our program is a critical link between family and school. We also provide a welcoming atmosphere to all new members of our community.
  • Affordability
We use an affordable fee schedule so that working families with low to moderate low incomes can take advantage of Project MOST for their children. Our model of funding can be replicated by other communities and helps communities align resources and change organizational systems to meet the new and critical needs of our children to learn, develop their abilites and have a safe place to be after school.
